Hitonari "Jinsei" Tsuji ( Japanese 辻 仁 成 , Tsuji Hitonari or Tsuji Jinsei ; born October 4, 1959 in Hino , Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese writer , musician , photographer and director .

life and work

For his novels, Hitonari Tsuji was awarded the Akutagawa Prize , the most important Japanese literary award , in 1997 , and the French Prix ​​Femina Étranger in 1999 (for the novel "Le Bouddha blanc", 白 仏 , Hakubutsu ). As a rock singer, Tsuji became known as the frontman of the group "Echoes". Tsuji is married to the actress Miho Nakayama and has lived in Paris with his wife and son Juto since 2003 . He made his debut as a writer in 1989.

His films, among other things, at the film festivals in Venice and Berlin were on display (2001), include "Hotoke" ( ほとけ , 2001) and "filament" ( フィラメント , 2001). So far, his novels “Waiting for the Sun” and “The White Buddha” have been published in German.
