The Hjelmknausen ( Norwegian for helmet summit ) is a 1085 m high nunatak in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . In the Sør Rondane mountains, it rises 3 km northwest of Vesthjelmen .
Scientists at the Norwegian Polar Institute named it in 1988 based on the name of Vesthjelmen.
