The Hjursa class ( Ukrainian Гюрза , " Levanteotter ") is a Ukrainian class of small, lightly armored patrol boats that can be used both on rivers and in coastal waters. There are two different versions of the class, which are being built as Project 58150 and Project 58155 . The crew consists of 5 men.
Project 58150 Hjursa
The boats of the 58150 Hjursa project were designed by the State Center for Research and Design in Mykolaiv and built at the Kiev shipyard Kusnja na Rybalskomu (formerly Leninskaya Kusnja ). In 2004 two boats from the project were exported to Uzbekistan. The Uzbek purchase was funded by the United States with $ 5.6 million. They are stationed in Termez and are used by the Uzbek border guards on the Amu Darya to protect the Uzbek-Afghan border. In 2004 the two boats were delivered by air freight with an An-124.
technology
The hull of the Hjursa boats is made of steel and is divided into six watertight sections. The boats have signature-reducing superstructures and an aluminum composite armor that offers protection against rifle weapons up to caliber 7.62 mm. The drive consists of 2 Ukrainian 459K marine diesel engines (marine version of the 6TD tank engine), each with an output of 735 kW. The fuel supply is 5 t, so the boat can travel up to 540 nautical miles at around 11 kn . The maximum speed is 28 knots.
Armament
The two Hjursa boats are armed with a BMP-2 tower at the bow and at the stern with the tower of the BTR-80 . The main weapon is a 30 mm D-95 machine gun (GRAU index: 2A42), plus 4 9K111 Fagot anti-tank guided missiles , 1 14.5 mm KPWT machine gun and a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun .
Project 58155 Hjursa-M
An improved version of Project 58150 was to be designed for the Ukrainian Navy. The state ship planning office in Mykolaiv took over the project planning, the boats will also be built at the Kiev shipyard Kusnja na Rybalskomu . Various points of criticism were removed from the two boats in Project 58150, including the line of fire criticized as being too low. Furthermore, the sensor equipment was updated and a new drive with Caterpillar engines was installed. As a result, the maximum speed dropped from a nominal 28 to 25 knots and the range (at 12 knots) increased to 900 nm. The hulls were lengthened from 20.7 to 23 m and the displacement increased from 36 to 54 t.
The first two boats of the improved 58155 Hjursa-M project were laid down in 2012 and handed over in 2014/2015. After testing, they entered service with the Ukrainian Navy at the end of 2018.
In 2016 another 4 boats were laid down. Originally, the Ukrainian Navy was to receive up to 20 Hjursa-M boats.
Armament
The armament of the Hjursa-M boats consists of a remote-controlled Katran-M weapon station. Each of these close-range defense systems is equipped with 2 automatic 30-mm grenade launchers KBA-117 , a 30-mm automatic cannon STM-1 (Ukrainian replica of the Soviet Gryazev-Shipunov 2A72, a variant of the Shipunov 2A42 ), a 7.62-mm machine gun KT-7.62 , 81 mm smoke throw cups and 2 barrier anti-tank guided missiles.
