Hoagascht

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under Hoagascht (other speech and spelling also Hoangartn , Huigert or Hoimgarta ) means, especially in Bavaria , Austria and South Tyrol an informal musical event with different performers. In Tyrol, "hoagascht'n" also means an entertaining or informative informal conversation - something that the Swabians call "gossip" or the Berliners call "chatter".

origin

The word comes from the Middle High German heingarte (home garden) and originally referred to the garden in front of the house in rural areas. The name Hoagascht for sociable neighbors 'meetings at the house bank was generally applied to musicians' get-togethers over the years. Today a Hoagascht is one of the last non-commercial events for traditional folk music .

style

The line-up consists almost exclusively of traditional instruments, without amplification, or, as it is sometimes called: "without electricity". The pieces of music are played instrumentally as well as performed with singing. In Bavaria, Hoagascht is cultivated as a gathering over food and drink in a pub. You come with or without an instrument, sit together in groups, and without direction or schedule, one group plays, the other or the other soloist. If there are breaks, then there is a break until the next one plays again. You get together musically, play a piece together, and at the end of the event all performers perform a piece together.

Famous artist

Well-known musicians have also appeared at the musicians' meeting. B. Wastl Fanderl , Tobi Reiser , the Riederinger singers and many others.
