The Hochalmbahn is a cable car from the Hochalm to the Osterfelderkopf near the Alpspitze , south of Garmisch-Partenkirchen . By Hölzl Seilbahnbau built aerial tramway was 1973 opened and managed by the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn mountain railway AG operated.

The valley station is 1700 m above sea level. NHN and 50 m north of the Hochalm mountain restaurant . Over a length of 900 m, the cable car overcomes a difference in altitude of 333 m to the mountain station at 2033 m, which it shares with the Alpspitz cable car.

Technical details

Two cabins on separate lanes each hold 44 people and the cabin attendant and travel on a 48 mm thick suspension cable, which is carried by a 33 m high support and has a maximum incline of 33 °. The 25 mm thick pull rope is driven by the 206 kW main drive located in the mountain station and an auxiliary drive with an output of 88 kW. At 8 m / s, the passengers are transported within four minutes, whereby a maximum transport capacity of 750 people per hour and direction can be achieved.
