Hochwurzen mountain run

The Hochwurzen mountain run has been an Austrian ski mountaineering and cross-country skiing competition that has been held annually since 1999 on the Hochwurzen near Rohrmoos near Schladming .

The men start in Planai-West, from where around 6.5 kilometers and almost 1100  meters in altitude up to the Hochwurzen (1849 m) have to be overcome. The women and the starters of the so-called hiking class (adults and children) start at the Tauernalm in Rohrmoos and cover a distance of around 2.8 kilometers and 700 meters in altitude. In 2008 the routes for women and men were changed.

Ski mountaineering

The course record for men in ski mountaineering on the old route was held from 2004 to 2008 inclusive by Andreas Ringhofer with at least 48: 34.1 minutes, for women on the old route the last time was Lydia Prugger in 2007 with 35: 49.2 minutes, which was also in 2008 won on the new track with a time of 32: 44.2 minutes. In the men's race, Hans Wieland won in 2008 with a time of 48: 03.0 minutes.

The men's course record in cross-country skiing has been held by Wolfgang Perner with 46:43 minutes since 2001 , and the women's record by his sister Elfriede Perner with 40:43 minutes since 2001 .
