Hofstetten is a residential area in the Lauda-Königshofener district of Messelhausen in the Main-Tauber district in the Franconian north-east of Baden-Württemberg .

geography

Hofstetten is about 2.5 kilometers west-southwest of Messelhausen. Other surrounding places are Hof Sailtheim after about 400 meters in the southeast, Marbach after about 2 kilometers in the west and Kützbrunn after about 1.7 kilometers in the north.

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1232 when Hofstetten was donated to the Gerlachsheim monastery as the property of the Zobel from Giebelstadt. The rulership rights subsequently came with Lauda to the Counts of Rieneck and via female succession to the Counts of Wertheim . In 1562 Hofstetten came through Ludwig Graf zu Stolberg-Königstein to Debolt Eisenmenger and in 1568 from this to Hans Zobel von Giebelstadt. Since then the place has been completely connected to Messelhausen. In 1859 a Marienkapelle was built in Hofstetten in which no regular church services take place.

On the table sheet no. 6424 "Königshofen" from 1881 the place was listed as Hofstetten with about 30 buildings and a chapel .

The living space came to the city of Königshofen on January 1, 1972, together with Deubach and Sachsenflur , as part of the regional reform in Baden-Württemberg as part of the formerly independent municipality of Messelhausen. On January 1, 1975, the city of Königshofen reunited with the city of Lauda and the community of Unterbalbach to form the city of Lauda-Königshofen. Other formerly independent communities were added.
