history

In the Middle Ages , forest areas were cleared in the vicinity of the Prozelten Castle to build farms. Under the Teutonic Order , the "Dirgarten" was first mentioned in an interest register in 1379 . The name Thiergarten could go back to the keeping of game for the lords of the castle, but this is not proven. 300 sheep were once kept in the Thiergartenhof. The court was exchanged for the Electorate of Mainz in 1484 . In the land around the courtyard, boundary stones were set up with the Mainz wheel .
