Hohenstein (Friedland)
The Hohenstein district of the city of Friedland is located in the east of the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The settlement is located in the south-east of the municipality directly in front of the Brohmer Mountains . Its core is the Hohenstein estate , which was created in 1805 as a dairy and first belonged to the noble Rieben family on Brohm and Galenbeck. On June 22, 1846, Georg Alexander von Rieben (1799–1877) acquired the goods Heinrichswalde and Hohenstein from the bankrupt Riebenschen rule Brohm . His daughter Charlotte von Rieben (1793–1876) had married Werner von Brandenstein (1792–1864) in 1822, their son Hans Joachim von Brandenstein (1826–1906) married Minka von Arnim in 1861 . Their children, who were born there in 1864/65, were the future Prime Minister Joachim von Brandenstein and Lieutenant General Otto von Brandenstein . In 1877 ownership passed to the von Brandenstein family . Historically, the place belonged to the municipality of Brohm , which was founded around 1250.
A remarkable natural monument (since 1988) is the Teufelsstein boulder .
