Holcogaster fibulata is a Wanzenart from the family of stink bugs (Pentatomidae).

features

The bugs are 4.5 to 8.4 millimeters long, with the females being larger than their male counterparts. They are light gray in color and have fine black dots and orange-red spots on the head, pronotum, scutellum and hemielytrae . The tylus (frontal wedge) is not enclosed by the juga . The feelers are colored black.

distribution

The species is found around the Mediterranean (holomediterranean) and on the Canary Islands. In the north the distribution area extends to South Tyrol. The bug species is rare everywhere.

Way of life

Holcogaster fibulata is a phytophagous type of bug. The adult bugs fly from March to August. The bugs are often found on pines ( Pinus ), junipers ( Juniperus ), cypresses ( Cupressus ) and ornamental cypresses ( Callitris ).

Taxonomy

J. Ribes and D. Gapon investigated various specimens of the genus Holcogaster and came to the conclusion that the species Holcogaster fibulata , H. exilis , H. longicornis and H. weberi conspecific are, that is, describe the same way.
