Holger Busse

Holger Busse (born April 1, 1945 in Jena ) is a German ophthalmologist .

Life

In 1970 he passed his medical state examination at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . His license to practice medicine followed in 1981 . After his military service he did his doctorate in Münster on the subject of "Blunt abdominal injuries in childhood". In 1975 he became a specialist in ophthalmology, and in 1977 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on "The conservative and operative treatment of tear duct stenoses", a topic that he also dealt with in terms of medical history. Initially appointed as an adjunct professor , in 1981 he was appointed to a C3 professorship, and in 1983 he was appointed director of the eye clinic of the Ludwigshafen municipal hospital , succeeding Hans-Lothar Thiel . In 1986 Busse became director of the University Eye Clinic in Münster and held this position until his retirement in 2010.

From 1987 to 2007 Busse was a scientific board member of the professional association of ophthalmologists in Germany . In 1998/99 he presided over the German Ophthalmological Society and in 2000/01 the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery .
