Holger Höhne (born May 6, 1970 in Füssen ) is a former German curling player . Höhne is two-time European champion and twelve-time German champion. After the end of his career, he became involved as a youth coach in Füssen. In 2012 he was nominated as coach of the German curling team for the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck .

Career

Höhne played curling from the age of 17. Since 1992 he has been part of Andreas Kapp's team at the Füssen Curling Club , with whom he rose to become one of the most successful German curling players.

At the 1992 European Championships in Perth , Scotland , he won his first title. He was able to repeat this success in 1997 in the championships in Füssen. At world championships, Höhne achieved three third places (1994, 1995, 2005) and was runner-up in 1997 in Bern and 2007 in Edmonton . Höhne participated in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , 2006 and 1998 Winter Olympics. The team achieved two eighth places and one sixth place.

The 2011 World Cup was his last international tournament. The "Team Kapp" ​​finished the tournament in sixth place.

At national level, he won a total of twelve German championship titles with the Curling Club Füssen: 1994, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.

In 2013 Holger Höhne, Petra Tschetsch, Pia-Lisa Schöll and his long-time companion Andreas Kapp won gold at the Mixed European Championships in Edinburgh and finished fifth in the Mixed World Championships in 2015 and 2016. Höhne and Kapp both work as base trainers for the next generation of German curling.

Höhne has been looking after the German junior national team at the B World Championships since 2016 and has reached the play-offs with the respective teams. The promotion to the A group has not yet occurred.

Höhne is the bearer of the silver bay leaf.
