Kaints debuted in 2003 with a dystopia set in 2012 when the Soviet Union still exists. However, the criticism was hard on the work, and in the opinion of one critic, the author simply "failed". Nevertheless, the author continued to write and had his first success with his second book, which appeared in 2009. In the aircraft observer, on the one hand, a psychological analysis of the Soviet nostalgia is carried out, which is certain to be found in some Estonian residents, on the other hand, the "blessings" of the political change are also caricatured, with the main character suspecting a NATO secret prison on the outskirts of Tallinn. The book won the 2009 Snake Fountain Pen Award ( Siugjas sulepea ).

After that, Kaints submitted other novels and was also active as a critic.
