Holger Schroeter (* 1971 in Winterberg in the Hochsauerland ) is a German science manager and Chancellor of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg .

Life

He studied forest sciences and economics at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . He graduated from both courses with a degree in forestry and business administration. In 1997 he received his doctorate in forestry with the dissertation conception of a value approach for oak wood on the standing trunk .

After leading positions at management level at the Federal Employment Agency in Solingen and Düsseldorf , Schroeter moved to the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems in Freiburg after almost six years . As commercial director of Europe's largest solar research institute, he was responsible for the areas of finance, human resources, law, controlling, construction, infrastructure and technical services for seven years. He then moved back to his alma mater in Göttingen as full-time vice president for finances and personnel , where he was the president's representative. In addition, from 2015 to 2018 he was a member of the supervisory board of the Society for Scientific Data Processing mbH Göttingen (GwDG) . In autumn 2018 he accepted an appointment as chancellor at the Ruperto Carola University in Heidelberg.
