Holger Zaunstöck

Holger Zaunstöck (* 1967 in Weimar ) is a German historian .

Life

Zaunstöck studied history, social history and economics at the University of Halle between 1988 and 1993 , which he completed with the academic degree of a Magister Artium . From 1993 to 1998 he was a research associate at the Early Modern Period of the Institute for History at the University of Halle-Wittenberg. In 1998 he was awarded the dissertation “Society landscape and membership structures. The Central German Enlightenment Societies in the 18th Century " to the Dr. phil. PhD . Between 1999 and 2001 he was the managing assistant of the Interdisciplinary Center for Research into the European Enlightenment and from 2005 to 2007 he was a research assistant and assistant in a DFG project on the history of denunciation at the University of Halle-Wittenberg. In January 2008 he completed his habilitation for modern history and national history with the thesis “The suspicion's environment. Academic Freedom, Policy Making, and the Emergence of Denunciation in University Cities of the 18th Century ” . Since 2014 he has been an adjunct professor at the University of Halle-Wittenberg.

He has been working as a research assistant at the Francke Foundations in Halle since 2008 , and in 2016 he was appointed head of the research department there.

Zaunstöck is the chairman of the Association for Halle City History and a board member of the Historical Commission for Saxony-Anhalt and the Dessau-Wörlitz Commission.
