Holly Golightly (* 7. September 1966 as Holly Golightly Smith in London , England ) is a British singer and songwriter.

As a friend of Thee Headcoats drummer Bruce Brand, Golightly was asked by the band to sing something spontaneously when the headcoats performed. Her performance convinced frontman Billy Childish so much that shortly afterwards he founded Thee Headcoatees with Golightly as a singer (1991).

After four years she left the group and released her debut album The Good Things in 1995 , which, in contrast to the Headcoatees releases ( garage rock ), combined different musical styles ( blues , folk , jazz , rock 'n' roll , 60s pop ). More singles, EPs and albums followed. Golightly worked on them repeatedly with other musicians, including the White Stripes on their album Elephant (Song: It's True That We Love One Another ), Mudhoney , Rocket from the Crypt and in the song There's an end by the Greenhornes. Jack White of the White Stripes wrote the liner notes for their album Truly She's None Other (2003).

In 2005 two of her songs appeared on the soundtrack to Jim Jarmusch's film Broken Flowers . In addition to her own songs, the music collector covers unknown songs, especially from the soul repertoire of the 1960s. Since 2007 she has appeared mostly with Lawyer Dave as the duo Holly Golightly and the Brokeoffs . Her music has changed a lot towards folk over the years.
