The Holmes Bluff is a rock cliff on the Hobbs Coast of the West Antarctic Marie Byrd lands . It looms at the northern end of the Demas Range .
Scientists from the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941) discovered the cliff during an overflight. The United States Geological Survey mapped it between 1959 and 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1966 after Thomas J. Holmes, who was a meteorologist at Byrd Station in the United States Antarctic Research Program in 1961 .
