Holmes Ridge is a 3 km long and rocky mountain ridge in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . It is the largest formation in the western part of the Finger Ridges in the Cook Mountains .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 2001 after Robert E. Holmes of the Space Science and Engineering Center at the University of Wisconsin – Madison , who was involved in the construction and operation of automatic weather stations in Antarctica from 1991 to 1997 .
