The East Timorese-Russian relations describe the intergovernmental relationship between East Timor and Russia .

history

In the 19th century there were rumors that Russia and Germany wanted to set up a coal station in Portuguese Timor .

On December 7, 1995, East Timorese independence activists peacefully occupied the Russian embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia .

A representative from Russia was also present at the East Timor independence ceremony on May 20, 2002. On the same day, the official recognition and the establishment of diplomatic relations took place. Russia participated in various United Nations aid programs for East Timor.
