The relations between East Timor and the United Arab Emirates describe the interstate relationship between East Timor and the United Arab Emirates .

history

East Timor and the United Arab Emirates established diplomatic relations on November 13, 2009.

In 2003, East Timor's Prime Minister Marí Alkatiri, of Arab origin, visited the United Arab Emirates. In 2014, East Timorese Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão took part in the 10th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF).

The United Arab Emirates does not have a diplomatic mission in East Timor. The embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, is responsible .

With Joseph Issa East Timor has an honorary consul in Beirut , who also represents the Southeast Asian country in the United Arab Emirates.

In 2018, the East Timor’s Statistical Office registered imports from the United Arab Emirates to East Timor valued at 1,749,000 US dollars (2016: 2,911,000 US dollars). This puts the United Arab Emirates in 20th place (2016: 14th) among the trading partners of East Timor. There were also re-exports from East Timor to the United Arab Emirates amounting to 19,000 US dollars (20th place, 2016: 26,000 US dollars).
