The states of Cambodia and East Timor maintain friendly relations .

history

Relations between Cambodia and East Timor are currently expanding. Both states in Southeast Asia have had a long period of tyranny and administration by the United Nations , which makes them feel united. During the first visit by Cambodia Prime Minister Hun Sen to East Timor in August 2016, several bilateral agreements on technical, labor and economic cooperation and visa procedures were signed. In addition, ten scholarships for East Timorese students have been approved annually by Cambodia.

2015 was Felicidade de Sousa Guterres of President Taur Matan Ruak appointed the first ambassador of East Timor in Cambodia. The accreditation took place on April 28, 2016.

Cambodia does not have an embassy in Dili . The ambassador in Jakarta, Indonesia, is responsible .

economy

Cambodia supports East Timor in its efforts to join ASEAN and the World Trade Organization .

The island state supports Cambodia with its experience in the exploitation of oil fields and the necessary legislation. East Timor wants to import ground rice and sugar from Cambodia.

Cambodia announced in 2016 that they wanted to buy East Timorese coffee and provide technical assistance with rice cultivation and tourism in East Timor.

In 2018, the East Timor’s statistical office only registered re-exports to Cambodia worth 23,000 US dollars.
