The states of Laos and East Timor maintain friendly relations .

history

Laos and East Timor established diplomatic relations on July 29, 2002.

In 2019, the East Timorese Foreign Minister Dionísio Babo visited Laos. It was decided to further expand the relationship. Cooperation is planned in the fields of industry, agriculture, goods traffic, work, tourism and vocational training. One sees potential in the exchange of experiences in the areas of fishing, oil and gas extraction, coffee and rice cultivation, tourism and air traffic.

East Timor made $ 750,000 available for reconstruction in Laos in 2018 after the flood caused by the breach of the dam at the Xe-Pian Xe-Namnoy Hydroelectric Power Project .

East Timor has had an ambassador in Vientiane since 2016 . The first ambassador of the island state was Natália Carrascalão Antunes .

Laos does not have an embassy in Dili . The embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, is responsible . The current ambassador is Phavanh Nuanthasing (as of 2019).

economy

Laos is a member of ASEAN , which East Timor wants to join. In 2016 there were still concerns in Laos about joining East Timor.

For 2018, the East Timor’s Statistical Office does not indicate any trade relations between East Timor and Laos.

Entry requirements

East Timorese receive a visa upon entry into Laos.
