The East Timorese-Sri Lankan relations describe the interstate relationship between East Timor and Sri Lanka .

history

From 1975 to 1999, Indonesia occupied East Timor. With the Friends of the Third World there was a non-governmental organization in Sri Lanka that campaigned for the independence of East Timor from Indonesia.

After the end of the Indonesian occupation, Sri Lanka participated in both the United Nations Assistance Mission in East Timor (UNMISET) and the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT).

In 2011, the East Timorese cabinet supported Sri Lanka with USD 500,000 as a sign of solidarity after a flood disaster.

In 2018, as part of the Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL), Alcino Baris , President of the Comissão Nacional de Eleições East Timors , visited Sri Lanka's President Maithripala Sirisena .

The two states do not have diplomatic missions in the other state.

economy

For 2018, the East Timor’s Statistical Office recorded imports of scientific or medical equipment from Sri Lanka worth 635 US dollars. In 2016 there were re-exports to Sri Lanka in the amount of 23,000 US dollars.
