The interstate relationship between Bangladesh and East Timor is referred to as Bangladeshi-East Timorese relations .

history

Bangladesh participated with personnel in the United Nations Interim Administration for East Timor (UNTAET), the United Nations Assistance Mission in East Timor (UNMISET) and the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT). Ameerah Haq from Bangladesh was UN Special Envoy for East Timor and head of UNMIT from 2009 to 2012 .

The Bangladesh embassy in Jakarta , Indonesia, is responsible for the representation in East Timor. On October 24, 2016, Major General Azmal Kabir was appointed Bangladesh's new Ambassador to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and East Timor. He handed in his accreditation in East Timor on February 24, 2018. Azmal Kabir was already in 2001 in East Timor as head of a pioneer unit under UN leadership, in the service of UNTAET.

East Timor has no representation in Bangladesh.

economy

In 2018, the East Timor’s statistical office registered imports from Bangladesh to East Timor with a total value of 336,000 US dollars (2016: 250,000 US dollars), making Bangladesh 31st among importers. Goods worth 41,000 US dollars went from East Timor to Bangladesh in 2018 (20th place among the East Timorese export destinations).
