history
The name was mentioned early in 1350 as a fiefdom on Honberg , which means something like "on the high mountain". After further mentions, mostly with the ending -berg, today's name Homburg appeared for the first time in 1898. This change of toponym can often be seen.
Excavations by the State Monuments Office in 1972 on the occasion of the construction of the motorway confirmed earlier assumptions that the mounds were burial mound necropolis .
