The Home Retail Group plc (HRG) is the leading British retailer in consumer goods. The company, with headquarters in Milton Keynes, is listed in the FTSE 100 stock index on the London Stock Exchange .

As a holding company, the company comprises the retail companies Argos and Homebase , as well as their financial departments such as ARG Financial Services , ARG Card Services , ARG Insurance Services and ARG Card Transactions .

In total, the group employs approximately 48,000 people and has over 1,000 branches in the British Isles .

history

In April 1998, GUS plc acquired the retailer Argos, whose products at the time were jewelry, toys, electronics and household items. In 2000 Argos , GUS Home-Shopping and Reality UK delivery service were combined in the Home Retail Group. The latter two were sold again in 2003 and 2006. In December 2002, Homebase was bought.

On October 10, 2006, HRG spun off from its parent company GUS plc and became an independent listed company.

In 2016, the Home Retail Group was taken over by J Sainsbury .
