The CBX 650 E is a motorcycle from the Japanese vehicle manufacturer Honda , which was primarily designed for the American market. The sales name in the United States was CB 650 SC "Nighthawk". This differs through a differently shaped tank and an exhaust system with angled end pots and different handlebar switches.

Characterized by the long wheelbase, the unusual choice of wheel size and the design with the steeply sloping tank and the adjoining side panel, the bike got off to a bad start in Germany and Europe .

As a medium-sized CBX between 550 and 750 cm³ displacement, it entered 1983 with cardan drive as a rival to the Yamaha XJ 650 and the Z 550 GT from Kawasaki . The engine, an air-cooled four-cylinder, 4-stroke, in- line Otto engine has two overhead camshafts (DOHC) and 16 valves with hydraulic valve clearance compensation . The clutch is operated hydraulically. The motorcycle has a fuel gauge and a gear indicator, both using LCD technology. Around 2500 units are still permitted in Germany today.
