The Hogatza River is a 190 km long right tributary of the Koyukuk River in the western interior of Alaska .
It rises on the southern flank of the Brooks Range in the southern National Preserve of the Gates-of-the-Arctic National Park , flows southwest, crosses the Arctic Circle and flows into the Koyukuk River 51 km west-southwest of Hughes . The Hogatza River is part of the river system of the Yukon River . The Hogatza River has a strongly meandering course.
"Hogatza", the aboriginal name for the river, was documented in 1885 by Lieutenant Allen. The names "Kokachatna" and "Kokachutna" reported by Lieutenant Stoney in 1900 probably referred to the same body of water.
