Honorius Burger

Honorius Burger OSB (born November 22, 1788 in Horn , † July 21, 1878 in Altenburg ) was an Austrian Benedictine abbot , historian and draftsman.

Career

Honorius Burger made his profession on October 14, 1810 . From 1833 to 1839 he was pastor in Horn, then office director, orphanage administrator, chamberlain and cellar master of Altenburg Abbey . On August 31, 1842 he was elected 45th abbot of the monastery. He had extensive renovations carried out on the monastery buildings.

Burger wrote a history of the monastery, published a collection of documents and historical articles for Franz Xaver Schweickhardt's "Representation of the Archduchy of Austria under the Enns". He also created small watercolors of places and churches in the Waldviertel and pencil drawings of parishes and properties of the monastery in its Rotelbuch (around 1820).
