Hoochie Coochie Men is the name of various blues bands . This article looks at the first band by that name, the Hoochie Coochie Men led by Long John Baldry .
In 1963 Baldry was the singer of the Cyril Davies' All Stars . When Cyril Davies died in 1964, Baldry continued the band as The Hoochie Coochie Men . The second singer was 19-year-old Rod Stewart .
Hoochie Coochie Men recorded only one album, Long John's Blues (1964), before they broke up in 1965 . Stewart and Baldry then formed the band The Steampacket . Other bands later used the name, such as an Australian band founded by Bob Daisley in 2001 with guitarist Tim Gaze, with which Jon Lord performed.
