The Hope Point is a headland on the north coast of South Georgia . The cape marks the northern limit of the entrance to King Edward Cove on the west bank of Cumberland East Bay .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1955 after Herbert Willes Webley Hope (1878-1968) of the Royal Navy , who surveyed King Edward Cove in 1920 from HMS Dartmouth .
