The skunk loach ( Yasuhikotakia morleti , Syn. : Botia horae , Botia morleti ), also Aalstrichschmerle or Mausschmerle called, is a carp-like fish from the family of loaches . It is kept as a freshwater ornamental fish in aquariums.
features
The Horas loach, which comes from the rivers of Thailand and Malaysia , grows to around 6 to 10 cm long and can reach an age of up to 20 years. Is outwardly rather inconspicuous and has a thorn under the eye. It mainly feeds on snails and insects or their larvae .
Aquaristics
The aquarium should be equipped with some shelter options such as stones and roots placed on top of each other. In addition, the bottom should consist of sand or fine gravel, as the fish prefer to dig up the bottom. In addition to snails, the Horas loach prefers frozen or live food such as mosquito larvae as food.
