The Horgebest ( Norwegian for mountain beast ) is a mountain in Queen Maud Land, East Antarctica . In Sverdrupfjella it rises east of Fredbotnen in Rootshorga .
The first aerial photographs were taken during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . Norwegian cartographers, who also named it, mapped it on the basis of surveys and aerial photographs of the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (NBSAE, 1949–1952) as well as aerial photographs from the years 1958 to 1959 of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960).
