Horst-Dieter Becker

Horst Dieter Becker (born June 22, 1941 in Blasseifen ) is a German doctor and surgeon. His clinical activities included gastroenterological , endocrinological , oncological and transplant surgery problems, as well as minimally invasive surgery . He was the senior consultant at the Clinic for General Surgery in Göttingen, Director of the Surgical Clinic in Dortmund and, most recently, Medical Director of the Department for General Surgery at the University Clinic in Tübingen .

Since 2004 he has worked as a managing director in several companies that deal with the development of the hospital system in the MENA countries and in South Asia.

Life

After graduating from school, he studied medicine in Cologne and Innsbruck. From 1969 to 1984 he worked at the Surgical University Clinic in Göttingen. From 1971 to 1972 he worked at the University of Texas Medical Branch, UTMB, in Galveston , USA. He wrote his habilitation in 1976 at the Medical Faculty of the Georg-August University in Göttingen for surgery. In 1979 he was appointed adjunct professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Göttingen. In 1980 he was appointed C 3 professor for life at the Medical Faculty of the University of Göttingen for the subject of surgery. From 1984 to 1986 he was chief physician at the surgical clinic of the Dortmund City Clinic .

He is married and has three children.
