Horst-Dieter Westerhoff

Horst-Dieter Westerhoff (born July 19, 1941 in Iserlohn ) is a retired German civil servant and professor.

Life

Westerhoff did his Abitur at the mathematics and natural science high school in Hohenlimburg and studied economics at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster , where he did his doctorate with Ernst Helmstädter . From 1969 to 1975 he worked at the Rheinisch- Rheinisch-Westfälisches Institut for Economic Research in Essen. From there he moved to the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and was there a. a. responsible for political cooperation with the EPP Group in the European Parliament . From 1989 until his retirement in 2006 he worked as a section and group leader in the Federal Chancellery . There he was initially responsible for questions relating to German reunification such as B. the German economic and monetary union and then responsible for the Maastricht Treaty (introduction of the euro and European industrial policy). He later headed the Office's Social Policy Group and prepared the first Islamic Conference in the Federal Chancellery . In 2006 Westerhoff was appointed professor for economics and political economy at the Steinbeis University in Berlin.

In addition to his full-time activities, Westerhoff was a member and deputy chairman of the supervisory board of LVM Versicherung Münster from 1986 to 2018 . In 1996 he was appointed honorary professor for statistics at the University of Duisburg-Essen . From 2012 to 2015 he was chairman of the supervisory board of Commen Sense Solution AG in Berlin. He worked in an advisory capacity as a member of the scientific advisory board of the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden, as a member of the advisory board of the "InGeoForum", Darmstadt and as a member of the advisory board of the "Institute Risk & Compliance Management" at the Steinbeis University in Berlin . He is a managing board member of the Society for the Study of Structural Policy Issues in Berlin.
