Horst D. Schulz

Horst D. Schulz (born October 15, 1942 in Warnemünde ) is a professor of geochemistry and hydrogeology and works in the field of oceanography .

biography

Schulz studied geology and palaeontology in Aachen and Berlin from 1962 to 1966 and received his doctorate in 1970 at RWTH Aachen University on the subject of chemical processes in the transition from seepage water to groundwater . From 1970 to 1986 he was a research assistant at the University of Kiel , completed his habilitation in 1977 and was appointed adjunct professor in 1983. In 1980 he was on a research stay at the University of Waterloo , Canada . Since 1986 he has been professor for the field of "Geochemistry and Hydrogeology" at the University of Bremen and in 2005 became Honorary Professor at the First National Institute of Oceanography, Qingdao, PR China. He has been retired since 2007. Horst D. Schulz has also made a name for himself in Heligoland research. Following the discussion about Heligoland copper, which had been initiated by Jürgen Spanuth , he supported his thesis of prehistoric copper smelting on Heligoland.
