Horst Heckelsmüller (born January 3, 1958 ) is a former German ice hockey player who played for the ESV Kaufbeuren in the ice hockey Bundesliga and for the German national ice hockey team.

Career

Horst Heckelsmüller drew attention to himself as a young player at ESV Kaufbeuren and was part of the German squad at the Junior World Championships in 1977 and 1978 . So it was not surprising that he played for ESV Kaufbeuren in the 2nd Bundesliga at the age of 18. In the 1980s the Kaufbeurer established themselves in the top German league and Heckelsmüller scored six times in a row over 20 goals alongside Dieter Hegen from the 1980/81 season to the 1985/86 season . This made him one of the most successful German players of those years. It was not until he was 27 that he made his debut in the national team, with which he played in Prague at the 1985 Ice Hockey World Championship . In total, he completed 19 international matches for Germany, in which he scored two goals and four assists.

At the end of his career he was drawn to Grefrather EC in the league for one season . Heckelsmüller scored a total of 463 points, of which 243 goals and 220 assists, in 460 Bundesliga games. After his active career, he worked for the city of Kaufbeuren as operations manager of the Kaufbeurer baths, at the same time he was active as a junior trainer at ESVK.
