Horst Kilian

Horst Kilian (born January 29, 1950 in Würzburg ) is a former German water polo player .

Like his twin brother Günter, Horst Kilian played for SV Würzburg 05 , with whom he was German water polo champion in 1970, 1974 and from 1976 to 1978 . In the European Champion Clubs' Cup, the Würzburg team reached the four-man finals from 1976 to 1978.

The 1.89 m tall Horst Kilian completed a total of 147 international matches in the national team from 1969 to 1979 . At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal , the left-hander was used in eight games and scored four goals. With goalkeeper Günter Kilian, Horst Kilian, Wolfgang Mechler (student at Friedrich-Koenig-Gymnasium ) and Günter Wolf , four Würzburgers belonged to the German team in 1976, which finished sixth in Montreal.

His son Philipp was also a national water polo player.
