Günter Wolf (water polo player)
Günter Wolf (born September 27, 1949 in Würzburg ) is a former German water polo player and coach.
Günter Wolf played for SV Würzburg 05 , with whom he was German water polo champion in 1970, 1974 and from 1976 to 1978 . In the European Champion Clubs' Cup, the Würzburg team reached the four-man finals from 1976 to 1978.
The 1.83 m tall Günter Wolf made his debut in the national team in 1969 . His first major international tournament was the 1970 European Championship . At the 1972 Olympic Games , the midfielder scored three goals in eight appearances and took fourth place with the German team. He participated in the 1973 World Cup and the 1974 European Championship . At the 1975 World Cup , the German team finished sixth as well as the following year at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal , where he scored five goals in eight appearances in Montreal. From 1969 to 1976 he played in 131 international matches for the Federal Republic of Germany.
After his active career, he worked as a coach in addition to his job as a teacher, until 1998 he coached the team of SV Würzburg 05.
