Horst Lange (politician)

Horst Lange (born March 30, 1934 in Berlin ; † July 27, 2010 there ) was a Berlin SPD politician and pacifist .

Career

Horst Lange was a trained baker, but later worked as an educator and social worker. In 1952 he became a member of the SPD. In the SPD, he was active as a department chairman and member of the district committee of the Kreuzberg SPD. From 1967 to 1971 he was a district councilor in Kreuzberg. From 1971 to 1981 Horst Lange was a member of the SPD parliamentary group in the Berlin House of Representatives . During this time he worked as vice-chairman of the Committee on Justice and later also as a member of the Committee on Security and Order.

Horst Lange, who has stood up for people in need who have no lobby in society, became a member of the pacifist International of Opponents of War (IDK) in 2005 and thus supported conscientious objectors and anti-military work against conscription, the military and war.
