Horst Lenz (born September 21, 1913 in Görlitz , † March 12, 1985 in Weißenburg in Bavaria ) was a German auditor . From 1960 to 1972 Lenz was Lord Mayor of the city ​​of Weißenburg, which was independent until the regional reform in Bavaria in 1972 .

Life

Lenz received his doctorate in Weihenstephan in 1953 . In 1960 he won the election as mayor of Weißenburg in Bavaria as a non-party candidate with the support of the CSU . He prevailed against the incumbent mayor Ludwig Thumshirn of the SPD , who had stated in the election campaign with a view to the origin of Lenz among other things: “Should the Franconian free city of Weißenburg only for the 600th anniversary of its freedom at the head of the city administration still be ruled by Prussia and Saxony? After his death, Dr.-Horst-Lenz-Strasse in Weißenburg was named after him.
