Horst Lenz

Horst Lenz (born September 21, 1913 in Görlitz , † March 12, 1985 in Weißenburg in Bavaria ) was a German auditor . From 1960 to 1972 Lenz was Lord Mayor of the city of Weißenburg, which was independent until the regional reform in Bavaria in 1972 .

Life

Lenz received his doctorate in Weihenstephan in 1953 . In 1960 he won the election as mayor of Weißenburg in Bavaria as a non-party candidate with the support of the CSU . He prevailed against the incumbent mayor Ludwig Thumshirn of the SPD , who had stated in the election campaign with a view to the origin of Lenz among other things: “Should the Franconian free city of Weißenburg only for the 600th anniversary of its freedom at the head of the city administration still be ruled by Prussia and Saxony? "

After his death, Dr.-Horst-Lenz-Strasse in Weißenburg was named after him.
