Horst Lommer (lawyer)

Hermann Thuiskon Horst Lommer (born August 20, 1824 in Wichmar , † August 15, 1905 in Jena ) was a German lawyer and honorary citizen of the city of Jena.

Horst Lommer was born on August 20, 1824, the son of a pastor. After graduating from high school, he studied law and then worked as an assessor at the Higher Appeal Court in Jena. In 1879, after serving as a public prosecutor , he was promoted to the higher appeal judge. In the same year he switched to the Thuringian Higher Regional Court as a senior public prosecutor . On the occasion of his 50th service anniversary in 1896, he was appointed to the Privy Councilor of Justice and received honorary citizenship of the city of Jena. The entire University of Jena awarded him an honorary doctorate . As a nature lover and as chairman of the Beautification Association, Lommer earned services for the beautification of Jena's surroundings, which was the reason for his honorary citizenship. In 1910 the Lommerweg in Jena-West was named after him.
