Horst Müller (soccer player)
Horst Müller (born June 17, 1920 ) is a former German soccer player who was in the final of the Eastern Zone Championship in 1949 . He then played three point games in the East German soccer zone league .
Athletic career
Horst Müller was one of the football players who revived football in Erfurt with the SG Erfurt-West after the end of the Second World War . After the renaming in Fortuna Erfurt, the team with Horst Müller became Thuringian soccer champions in 1949 and thus achieved participation in the East Zone Championship in 1949 . Fortuna reached the final, but lost 4-1 with Horst Müller as right defender of ZSG Union Halle .
As a final participant, the Erfurt qualified for the East German soccer zone league (later DS-Oberliga, GDR-Oberliga ), with which the East German GDR soccer champions were determined in the future. The first season was played in 1949/50, and the squad from Erfurt, who had restructured into the company sports community (BSG) KWU, also included the now 29-year-old Horst Müller. However, he only played three point games at the start of the season, after which he did not appear at KWU Erfurt or later in the upper divisions of GDR football .
