Horst Mehrländer

Horst Mehrländer (born September 12, 1939 in Breslau ) is a German politician of the FDP . From 1996 to 2006 he was State Secretary in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economics . Mehrländer is married.

Mehrländer graduated from high school in 1959. He then served in the Bundeswehr, which he left in 1960 as a lieutenant in the reserve. He then studied economics at the Universities of Göttingen and Bonn until 1965 . He completed his studies with a degree in economics. Political activity

After completing his studies, he worked at the Federal Ministry of Economics until 1977, then in the FDP parliamentary group in the German Bundestag . In 1985 he headed a department in the European Policy Department of the Federal Ministry of Economics for three years . In 1989 he became head of the ministerial office of Federal Minister of Economics Helmut Haussmann and from 1991 he was head of a subdivision in the same ministry.

In June 1996, the Baden-Württemberg Prime Minister Erwin Teufel appointed him to his cabinet and assigned him the duties of State Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs . He held this office until June 2006.
