Blauen ( Swiss German : Blaue ) is a municipality in the district of Laufen in the canton of Basel-Landschaft in Switzerland .
geography

The municipality of Blauen is located on a terrace on the southern slope of the Blauen hill range (837 m). Neighboring communities are Dittingen , Zwingen , Nenzlingen , Pfeffingen BL , Ettingen and the two Solothurn communities Hofstetten-Flüh and Metzerlen . The municipal area is 713 hectares, of which 34% is agricultural area, 60% is forest and 6% is settlements.
history
Even in Roman times there was a road that connected the Birstal via Blattenpass near today's village with Basel. The village was first mentioned as Blakwan in 1147. In 1408 the lords of Rotberg and Ramstein owned the place. In 1462, Blauen came under the rule of the Basel prince-bishop as part of the Bailiwick of Zwingen . In 1490 Blauen came into castle law with Solothurn and in 1525 the village came into castle law with the city of Basel . 1792–93 the Blauen became part of the Raurak Republic , from 1793 the French saw it as an occupier and in 1815 it was added to the federal government and the canton of Bern by decision of the Congress of Vienna . In 1994, Blauen moved from the canton of Bern to the canton of Basel-Landschaft as one of 13 communities in the Laufental .

A golden shield with a black crossbar and above it a black, five-pointed star is the coat of arms of the Lords of Rotberg . The star was added later.

59% of the population are Roman Catholic and 18% are Reformed. The proportion of foreigners is 6.0%.

The municipality has a connection to the outside world with the PostBus line. This takes you to the Laufen InterRegio / S-Bahn stop or the Zwingen S-Bahn station on the Jura line .

- St. Wendelins chapel in Hofgut Kleinblauen from 1666 (October 20th is the anniversary of the name day of St. Wendelin. If it is a Sunday, there will be a peasant pilgrimage with church service. If October 20th is not a Sunday , the festival takes place on the following Sunday).
