Burg im Leimental is in Leimental located municipality in the district of Laufen in the canton of Basel-Country in Switzerland .
history
It is believed that the castle itself had several small ancestors. Coin finds show that the area was already settled in Roman times. In 1168 the Biedertan Castle was given to Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa as a fief . In 1269 it came into the possession of the Bishop of Basel . From 1392 the lords of Wessenberg were the feudal bearers . After the 16th century the castle was renamed to " Biedertal ", then to "Burgtal" and finally to "Burg im Leimental". In 1815, Burg im Leimental was assigned to the canton of Bern by decision of the Vienna Congress and in 1994 moved to the canton of Basel-Landschaft .

Burg im Leimental im Leimental has had a coat of arms since 1946. It is divided in half by a horizontal black bar. The upper area shows two, the lower area a red ball on a silver background. This is the coat of arms of the Lords of Wessenberg , who owned Burg im Leimental for several centuries.
