Horst Michalowski

Horst Michalowski (born May 29, 1937 in Wahrendorf , Sensburg district ; † January 13, 2005 in Bad Zwischenahn , Ammerland district ) was a German writer and translator .

Life

Horst was the first of the five sons of a Masurian family who lived first in Prawdowen (Wahrendorf), then in Selbongen . His parents were Franz and Ottilie Michalowski, geb. Faltin. After the end of the war , Selbongen came to Poland and has been called Zełwągi ever since. He married in 1960 and lived with his wife in Mikołajki . As part of the family reunification , the couple arrived in Germany at the end of 1968 as repatriates . You lived in Bad Zwischenahn on the Zwischenahner Meer since 1969 .

Between 1972 and 1974, Horst Michalowski translated three non-fiction books on firearms from English into German, which were published by Motorbuch-Verlag . During a stay in the Masurian homeland in the summer of 1998, he wrote the novel The Silver Road in Zełwągi . A life of Masuria , published in Berlin in 1999. Relevant books about Masuria with stories, fairy tales and poems followed. At the same time he researched Ernst Wiechert , who was born in 1887 in the small Masurian town .

When Horst Michalowski died, Siegrid Michalowski issued several publications from the estate in the following years.
