Horst Oskar Siffrin (born October 5, 1947 in Saarbrücken ) is a former German diplomat .

Life

Horst Oskar Siffrin comes from a Saarland merchant family. His great-grandfather, Heinrich Siffrin, founded the colonial goods store Siffrin in 1872 in the immediate vicinity of facilities for miners and the later “ Rechtsschutzsaal ” association building, which his grandfather, Robert Siffrin, and his father, Peter Siffrin, continued. Horst Oskar Siffrin studied law and economics at the Saarland University from 1966 to 1970 . He completed his studies with a degree in business administration. In 1970 he initially worked as an assistant at the chair of Prof. Günter Wöhe and then worked independently until 1979. He lived in Friedrichsthal (Saar) until he joined the Foreign Service in 1980 .

After completing his career examination for the higher foreign service, he initially worked at the Foreign Office in Bonn from 1982 to 1983 . After working at the German Embassy in Addis Ababa between 1983 and 1986 - initially as an attaché for business and economic cooperation and then as a consul as well as culture and press attaché - he was cultural attaché at the German embassy in Lagos from 1986 to 1989 . After he was again a consultant at the headquarters of the Foreign Office from 1989 to 1992, he was subsequently employed as chargé d'affaires at the German Embassy La Paz as part of a delegation and then until 1995 as permanent representative of the ambassador in Bolivia or chargé d'affaires ( Chargé d'Affaires ai); The focus of the activity was the deepening of the German-Bolivian cooperation in the field of economy and development. After a further assignment at the head office, from 1998 to 2001 he headed the foreign policy department as a government director at the Federal Academy for Security Policy. From 2001 to 2005, Siffrin was head of the economic department at the Consulate General in Wroclaw and, after the retirement of Consul General Peter Ohr, he was acting Consul General in Wroclaw. He then took over the management of a work unit in the economic department of the Foreign Office in Berlin in 2005, before he was accredited as head of the economic services of the German Embassy in Madrid from mid-2006 to September 2009 .

After a sabbatical until the end of 2010, Siffrin took over the chairmanship of the supervisory board of KeyDrive S.A., based in Luxembourg, which was merged with the CentralNic Group listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2018 as part of a "reverse takeover". He is the managing partner of the family holding company inter.services GmbH and the trading company AstraPharma GmbH in Friedrichsthal and owner of HOSiffrin Consulting in Berlin.

Horst Oskar Siffrin is a founding member and member of the board of the non-profit association PerspektiveAfrika e. V. and the association seniorenhilfe.saarland e. V .; He is also a member of the DGAP ( German Society for Foreign Policy ). He has three children.
