Horst Schmidt (politician, 1931)

Horst Schmidt (* 13 August 1931 in Hamburg ) is a German politician of the SPD and former member of the Hamburg Parliament .

Life

After attending primary school from 1938 to 1947, he trained as an electrical machine builder until 1950. He worked in the electrical trade as a workshop manager and trainer in a company in Uhlenhorst . He was also vice president of the Hamburg Chamber of Crafts for ten years .

He is married and has two children.

Horst Schmidt has been a member of the SPD since 1950 and a trade unionist in IG Metall since 1949 .

From 1997 to 2001 ( 16th electoral term ) he was a member of the Hamburg Parliament for the SPD. For his group he was active in the economic, school and environmental committee.

Since 2002 he has worked as an elected citizen in the budget and economic committee of the SPD district parliamentary group. For the district assembly election in 2008, he let his party line up for the Hamburg-North area . He is there at number 25 on the list.
