Horst Sommerfeld

Horst Sommerfeld (born August 24, 1930 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German politician and former member of the state parliament ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending school, he completed a craft training and then worked as an electrical welder . Then he was youth secretary at the German trade union federation and later district chairman at the DGB.

Sommerfeld has been a member of the SPD since 1951. He was active in numerous party committees, so u. a. as a member of the Recklinghausen sub-district executive. He has been a member of IG Metall since 1949. He was chairman of the program advisory board of the Ruhr Festival .

From May 28, 1975 to May 31, 1995, Sommerfeld was a member of the Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was directly elected in constituencies 108 Castrop-Rauxel and 084 Recklinghausen IV.

From 1964 to 1981 he was a member of the city council of the city of Castrop-Rauxel and 1970-1975 member of the Regional Assembly of the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe .

Honors

On March 4, 1999, Sommerfeld was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia .
